568 days ago156 views

The Murray Concert Band will perform a variety of American and patriotic music as we salute the veterans who have made this country great. The concert is Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Junior High School, 126 East 5300 South.

The concert is designed for the entire family, and admission is free. However, donations of any amount are always encouraged since the band operates solely from grants and private contributions. Hillcrest Junior High School is wheelchair accessible. This performance is supported by grants from the Murray Arts Advisory Board and the Zoo, Arts and Parks fund.

The Murray Concert Band is a not-for-profit community organization with 50 volunteer musicians who are dedicated to bringing quality band music to the Salt Lake Valley. The band is conducted by Dr. Craig Ferrin and Wayne Huff, assistant conductor. The band was formed in 1986 by Cliff Millward who served as its conductor until 2006, when Dr. Ferrin assumed the baton. The band's repertoire ranges from popular movie scores and Disney tunes to transcriptions of the world's greatest classical music.

Musicians interested in joining the band should send an e-mail to murrayconcertband@comcast.net.
