Kearns Veterans Memorial Dedication

Friday, October 26, 2012872 views

The Kearns Community Council is inviting the public to dedication ceremonies for the new Kearns Veterans Memorial Plaza. It will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. in front of the Kearns Recreation Center, at 5670 South 4800 West (Cougar Lane).

This will be the site for the new resting place of the Kearns Cannon and flag pole, which had to be relocated from the corner of 4015 West 5400 South due to road expansion. The new site will serve as a place of honor preserving the heritage of Camp Kearns, which the U.S. Army operated in the community during World War II. Several local dignitaries will make remarks, and the council is continuing its ongoing program of selling engraved bricks to finish the plaza.

More information on the bricks and the dedication ceremony is available by calling KCC vice-chairman Paula Larsen at 801-963-9150, or emailing her at
